Bob Marley and the Little Things in Life

Yesterday, when I woke up..I mean when I was WOKEN up by screaming children, I decided it would be a good day to do some cross-border shopping. I'm lucky enough to live about 20 minutes from the Canada-US border. I called up my mom, who happens to be my lifelong shopping partner. She was game. Best.Mom.Ever. It only took an hour longer than I had hoped to get out the door, but with 3 kids under 4, I think that's pretty darn good.

I don't like to brag, but my kids are amazing shoppers. My sister-in-law pointed out that maybe it's genetics as my mom, myself and my children all excel at shopping. Earlier this week, my 3 year old was instantly able to find a lactose free yogurt amongst a wall of yogurts in a big grocery store. HOW DID SHE DO THAT? I've only bought it once and she found it before I could! Amazing.

What I really wanted to share was this. Ever since they were babies, I've been singing "We're Jammin'" by Bob Marley, to the kids. Except I change the lyrics to "Pyjamas." I sing it when I'm trying to coax them into wanting to get ready for bed. Here's how it goes:

Pyjamas!:

I wanna pyjama with you.

Pyjamas! Pyjamas!

And I hope you like Pyjamas, too.

Oh yah!

Catchy, right??

In a beautiful moment on our way home from a loooong day of shopping without proper naps and where I was starting to get hangry (hungry and angry), our jam came on the radio. It was the first time either one of them had really heard it. My 3 year old sang along instantly, and my 2 year old had this look of pure amazement on her face. She couldn't believe that someone else was singing her song!

In an instant, my hangryness was gone. I danced and sang in my car like a complete maniac and I didn't care who saw me. Something so simple and so small made me instantly realize how blessed I am. I hope if you're reading this, that you're fortunate enough to have a moment like this in your day, too.
