Baby's 1st Food - Ground Bison
One-handed typing is a skill. I'm just saying.
Introducing babies to food can be a scary thing when you've grown up with allergies. Every new food introduction can be worrisome. That's the way I felt with my first two children anyway. But this time around, I'm having so much fun! My little man shares his mama's obsession with food. He only started solids last week but he is a total pro already. I've never seen anything like it. Most babies I've seen have to master the art of keeping food in the mouth followed by learning how to swallow said food. But not my little guy. He can eat without a bib and be pretty much clean by the end of the meal. He eats quickly and then kicks his arms and legs excitedly for more. No mess, no waste. Pure awesome.
My approach has been different this time around. My doctor said to take it really slow with food because my little guy has eczema. Not just a little...this baby had it BAD. I've never seen a baby have so much. Face, shoulder, arms, legs. Poor guy! The whole situation was very distressing for me. But 3 weeks of routinely giving probiotics, along with rotating two very good all-natural creams, has cleared it up 95%. Now you can just see where the eczema was on his legs, but I wouldn't even call it eczema anymore.
Back to food. So my doctor told me to take it slow and wait several days before new introductions. The general advice is to eat the same food 3 - 4 days in a row before moving on to the next. Personally, if I eat the same thing 4 days in a row, I become sensitive to it. That's why I'm allergic to squash, coconut, avocados, eggs, and so on. Too much of a good thing is not a good thing at all. I do like my doctor very much, but my mommy gut tells me to trust my instincts.
So I've been feeding my babe the same food I eat, which happens to be whole, low allergen, anti-inflammatory, gut-healing food. I'm not only introducting solids, I'm making solid introductions - setting the foundation to promote continued gut healing as this, I believe, is the true cause of his eczema in the first place.
In the last week, we've enjoyed the following meals:

Braised lamb with carrots and onions.

Ground Beef with brussels sprouts, sweet potatoes and mashed cauliflower (hiding under there).

Hearty chicken soup with carrots, sweet potatoes, onions, and turnip greens.

The result - a happy, well-fed, eczema-free baby!
Happy eating, people!
